Gain employment in Canada through one of the LMIA exemptions or an approved LMIA and add points to your score in Express Entry if participating in one of the economic programs.  This system is an effective tool for employers, recruitment in the selection of skilled talent from overseas. For international candidates is a way to demonstrate skills such as education, age, work experience from overseas, and language abilities. Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship (IRCC) use the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which identifies qualified individuals and offers them permanent residency. To participate in any of the programs under Express entry, you will need good command of English or French. The Express Entry system has three streams:

Federal Skilled Worker – FSW

A Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) is assessed through the CRS point system which aims at consistency and fairness to all interested applicants avoiding discrimination and other biases. The highest-ranking candidates from the pool are invited to apply for permanent residence. IRCC issues these invitations every two weeks after a draw.  Follow us on Twitter or Facebook for each draw.

Federal Skilled Trades – FST.

Federal Skilled Trade (FST) workers do not require an assessment through the CRS point system, instead their assessment is based on the occupation or trade that sparks interest to the Government of Canada. Most of these occupations are in the B skill level of the National Occupation Classification (NOC) matrix.

Main Areas of Interest are:

  • Industrial, electrical and construction trades
  • Maintenance and equipment operations trades.
  • Supervisors and technical occupations in natural resources, agriculture and related production
  • Processing, manufacturing and utility supervisor.

Canadian Experience Class – CEC

This immigration stream focuses on those foreign nationals who were able to obtain Canadian work experience and who are skilled enough to establish themselves economically and have the intention to live in one of the provinces except Quebec.  Most applicable are those post-graduates with managerial and professional skills.  Also applicable are certain Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs).
